Biography

JamieJamie Livingstone, 30, lives in Edinburgh with his wife Johanna. Born and brought up in Dunfermline, he has a twin brother and two elder sisters. Jamie was educated at Dunfermline High School before earning a First Class Honours degree in Economics and International Relations at the University of St Andrews. In 2001 he was awarded a Bobby Jones Jr. Scholarship - travelling to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, to complete studies in journalism and an internship with both CNN and CNNi.

Returning to Scotland in 2002 Jamie earned a place on the Donald Dewar Traineeship with Trinity Mirror. He completed placements as a News Reporter with The Glaswegian and as a Features Writer with the Daily Record before being employed as a full-time News Reporter with the Sunday Mail. Jamie completed a raft of special investigations, including coverage of ethnic cleansing in Darfur, Sudan. In 2005 he moved to the Scottish Daily Mail as Scottish Political Reporter, becoming a finalist in the Scottish Political Reporter of the Year Awards.

Jamie joined STV News in 2006 serving first as Holyrood Producer, then as Senior Political Reporter and finally as Political Correspondent. In his current role Jamie covers Scottish and UK Politics for STV News, in both the Central and North regions – also contributing to STV’s Politics Now. He completes live and pre-recorded reports, including interviews with key political figures from both Holyrood and Westminster. Jamie provides extensive economic and business coverage and regularly completes special reports – most recently on the release of the Lockerbie bomber.
